Ms. Minnema

My name is Eleanor Minnema and I have been teaching English at Humboldt since 2007! i am originally from outside of Chicago, but moved up to Minnesota to begin college in the year 2000 and I have been here ever since, mostly in Saint Paul. I have two children who are also in SPPS schools currently.  

I am passionate about teaching Humboldt Hawks to be independent lifelong readers and thoughtful, clear writers. I also live in Saint Paul, so one of my favorite things is to run into alumni around the city and see how they are growing up and becoming adults! 

One of the proudest moments of my teaching career was seeing my AVID  elective class graduate in the spring of 2021. Even though COVID prevented a regular graduation ceremony, I was so proud to see these students I had followed since their 8th grade year; I taught them in the AVID elective each year through 12th grade. I'm a very strong supporter of the AVID elective classes and strategies that we have here at Humboldt--not every school has them and we are lucky to be an AVID site!
