Humboldt/OWL's Thune Wins Ninth State Snow Sculpting Championship

Two SPPS staff members participated in the Minnesota State Snow Sculpting Competition, hosted by the Saint Paul Vulcans at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Dusty Thune, a special education teacher at Humboldt and Open World Learning, won a state championship for the ninth time. His team House of Thune's sculpture was "Paddlefish". Dusty also won the 2023 World Snow Sculpting Championship.

Additionally, licensed school counselor Erika Huss participated in the amateur division. Her team's sculpture was entitled "Spoon Bridge Marshmallow".
