Dual Credit Options
DUAL CREDIT OPTIONS
High school students have the opportunity to earn high school and college credits simultaneously. Although this is an option for many students, please consider the level of commitment and amount of time, effort, and work needed in each course. Students participating in any of the dual credit program options are expected to meet the rigor and higher standards of quality work. Students are expected to perform at the same level as college students. Students who do not earn a satisfactory grade in the course(s) may be at risk for being credit deficient for graduation.
Advanced Placement (AP)
AP gives students the chance to tackle college-level work while they’re still in high school and can earn college credit and placement based on AP exam scores. https://ap.collegeboard.org/
Concurrent Enrollment (CIS & CE)
Students can enroll in college courses offered by local colleges (CE) or with the University of Minnesota via their College in the School (CIS) program. These courses are taught at Humboldt by high school teachers who are certified to teach the course by the college. https://ccaps.umn.edu/college-in-the-schools & https://www.saintpaul.edu/admissions/concurrentenrollment
Postsecondary Enrollment Option (PSEO)
Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is a program that allows public and nonpublic students in 10th, 11th and 12th grades to earn college credit while still in high school, through enrollment in and successful completion of college nonsectarian courses at eligible postsecondary institutions. Students generate both college credit and high school credit by successful completion of the course. Most PSEO courses are offered on the campus of the postsecondary institution; some courses are offered online. Each participating college or university sets its own admissions requirements for enrollment into the PSEO courses. Eleventh and 12th-grade students may take PSEO courses on a full- or part-time basis; 10th-graders are eligible to enroll in PSEO on a more limited basis. Students must meet the PSEO residency and eligibility requirements and abide by participation limits specified in Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.09. https://education.mn.gov/MDE/fam/dual/pseo/
