Deaf/Hard of Hearing Program

Welcome to the Humboldt High School's Deaf/ Hard of Hearing Program!
Humboldt Students at Belwin

Humboldt High School serves students who have hearing differences in grades 6-12. Our mission is to provide a globally-focused community of active learners. We prepare students with hearing differences to become positive contributing members of their communities and work to support all students reach their highest personal potential. 

Program Highlights:

  • Learning opportunities in both self-contained and general education classrooms.
  • Co-taught courses in Math, Science, History and English.
  • Math and Reading courses taught in ASL.
  • Advanced Placement (AP), College in Schools (CIS) and PSEO
  • College preparation programs including AVID, TRIO and College Possible.
  • Opportunities for job skills training (resume building, S.T.E.P.S, and CVI)
  • JROTC
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Empowerment through interaction with members of the Deaf/HH community.
  • Variety of communication modes including ASL, spoken and written English, simultaneous communication and captioning.
  • Career training programs including AOIT, Certified Nursing Assistant and welding.
  • Transition/independent living skills development.
  • Spoken language interpreters for Karen, Somali and Spanish on staff.
