Course Description:
Computer literacy is important for students. As an educational tool for teaching and learning, it will be used for a lifetime. Technology allows staff and students to access, manipulate, create, and communicate information during their teaching and learning. The effective use of technology is measured by the extent to which students use it to engage in meaningful learning.
The Integration of technology curriculum during a student’s ninth grade year will include the following:
►Technology integration into all content areas
►Knowledge in correct keyboarding techniques
►Knowledge in word processing, research, and multimedia through the study of
ninth grade English
►Knowledge in spreadsheet applications through the study of math, physical
education, and science
►Knowledge in Internet application through the study of social studies
►Knowledge and application of district 6 year plan
Key Knowledge addressed by this Syllabus. 1. Understand and apply computer terminology and basic functions in operating a computer.2. Demonstrate alphanumeric keyboarding through the touch system at an efficient rate.3. Explain the relevance of computers to careers.4. Demonstrate ethical and courteous behavior in operating a computer.5. Understand internet applications.6. Demonstrate knowledge of word processing software.7. Demonstrate knowledge of spreadsheet (charts, graphs, and tables) software.8. Demonstrate knowledge of database software.9. Demonstrate knowledge of graphic/multimedia presentation software.
